Birds need you now, more than ever.

The national media brought sobering news today about the steep decline of birds in North America. What may seem obvious to those of us who care about birds is finally making headlines. You may find this news discouraging, but it is an urgent wake-up call. Our work is more important than ever.

The Audubon Society of Rhode Island has been protecting habitat for birds and other wildlife through conservation, education and advocacy in our state for over a century. We manage our fields and forests for nesting birds and migratory stopover areas.

Over the decades we have fought for birds. We lobbied for the banning of DDT in the 1970s, and now, because of the danger to birds and wildlife, we are fighting for increased regulation of pesticide use.

Many of you understand the importance of birds and a healthy ecosystem. With your help, we will continue work to protect birds, preserve habitats, and educate the public and our governmental leaders of their vital role in our world.

Your support is more important than ever.
