-
Black Oil Sunflower
The soft seed hulls of Black Oil Sunflower mean the food value of the nutmeat is easily accessed by all of the seed-eating birds. This makes it the best single ingredient choice for attracting the most colorful songbirds.
-
Aspen Song Nyjer Seed
A magnet for attracting American Goldfinch, Purple Finch, House Finch, Pine Siskin, and Common Redpoll. While the price seems high, there are over 100,000 seeds in each pound. When dispensed through a Nyjer feeder, with tiny seed ports, the price per finch visit is very economical.
-
Aspen Song Peanut Pieces
Peanuts are a high-energy food that attract birds, such as woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, chickadees, jays and more. Providing shelled peanuts is a great addition to the choices you offer your backyard birds.
-
Aspen Song Sunflower Kernels
Sunflower kernels or "hearts" are sunflower seeds with the shell removed. Absence of the shell means that every species that visits bird feeders can access the rich nutritional value of sunflower kernels. There is no accumulation of empty shells under feeders. Because the actual food of the sunflower is exposed, it is important to offer kernels in a feeder that protects them from rain and snow.
-
Aspen Song Cardinal Mix
Ideally formulated for Northern Cardinal, Rose-breasted Grosbeak (springtime), Evening Grosbeak, and Blue Jay. Blue Grosbeaks and Pine Grosbeaks occasionally visit feeders. You might even entertain a rare visitor from the north: White-winged Crossbill or Red Crossbill. These species, some of the largest to visit your yard, feed most comfortably at platforms or hopper-style feeders. Placing one in an open area of the yard will signal a dinner invitation to the "heavyweights." Ingredients: Black stripe sunflower, safflower, oil sunflower, crimped corn, and buckwheat.
-

Aspen Song Safflower
High energy source for winter birds. Safflower is a hard-shelled seed that attracts Northern Cardinals, Mourning Doves, Black-capped Chickadees, Carolina Chickadees, and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. Some birdwatchers switch to safflower during periods when grackles and starlings are present. The seed is difficult for them to open and so discourages feeder visits. And it is one bird seed that it not liked by squirrels (although hungry enough and they seem to eat anything)!
